Stuck Hips, Lower back Pain and tight legs.

Being human, in this day and age, we all seem to be letting gravity get the better of us. All this tension pushing us down and squeezing us into positions that create serious blockages in our bodies. These blockages can be seen in the form of:

If there is a trigger point on our body that hurts when we put pressure on it, it means we have an imbalance there, as most of us do.

I have committed so much time and effort, working  on literally thousands of bodies to understand a bit more about how and where we have blockages and HOW to get rid of them.

Currently at one of my work places in Aarhus, Denmark, one of the biggest crossfit boxes in Europe, I have had lots of opportunities to put my work, of almost 20 years, to a good test, working on some of the most hardcore athletes out there.

It is very common to find a large portion of society living with pain, restrictions and even numbness in their lower backs, hips & legs. These pains and discomforts are the body trying to tell you to “LOOK AFTER ME”. These are the moments when something should be done. When this pain disappears from the radar and you haven’t done anything about it, eg. diet change, massage, exercise, acupuncture, shiatsu, cupping etc. it could mean that it has internalised, this heat and inflammation is now traveling deeper in the body, getting even closer to its neighbours, the organs.

Basically, listen to the body when it whispers, so you won’t have to hear it when it screams

My approach to Bodywork follows a more oriental philosophy, which you can read about.

Lower back issues should be seen to as quick as possible. When there are a  few thing linked to the lower back pain, like pain in the knees, ringing in the ears, unquenched thirst, no thirst, feeling bloated after eating, etc. this means that the pain is no longer just mechanical and muscular, it has reached a deeper level and needs a more complete treatment, like acupuncture.

There are so many things that can be done to bring your body back to its balance. These include:

The problem with having so much info at our fingertips on what to do, is that it’s easy to get lost in all that data, who is right? what is correct? etc.

In my clinic, I use a philosophy that one of my amazing acupuncture teachers taught me, If you don’t feel at least some average to good improvements within 4 sessions, when there is a big imbalance, then I am not the person you need right now. .

Not being able to help everybody, of course happens to all professionals, but when I look back at the thousands of people I have treated, I have helped way way more people that I haven’t.

A treatment at Shiatsu Bodyworks usually starts with a chat, that way I can get an idea of what is happening. After that I will do some hands on diagnostic techniques to investigate a bit deeper and confirm what I picked up from the info given to me.

This is truly what I love about TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), we look at the body

as an integral unit, getting answers from even the smallest bit of info that you might have thought was not related or even relevant. Once I have a diagnoses, then the treatment begins, this will be one or a combination of the following; shiatsu, cupping, acupuncture, sports massage, auricular therapy, stretching and qigong.

There are many tools that can be used in between sessions. I often recommend exercises that should be done daily, taken from qigong and acupressure (myofascial release). That way we are able to fix ourselves quicker instead of relying on others.

In the beginning we need direction , but with understanding comes the ability to heal ourselves.

Let’s look after our bodies and minds, they are the most amazing “things” we have.

Issues I have worked  with and gotten great results include:

Basically, listen to the body when it whispers, so you won't have to hear it when it screams
